Who Ryan Works With
Ryan works with people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, emotional regulation, and difficult life experiences. His previous career with the Ontario Provincial Police gives him a unique understanding of people who have been exposed to distressing situations, carry difficult experiences with them, or are accustomed to staying composed and handling problems on their own. He helps clients make sense of what they have experienced, work through patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and find practical ways to move forward.

Approach
Ryan brings a practical approach to therapy shaped by years of working in complex, high-pressure environments where understanding human behaviour, recognizing patterns, and communicating effectively were essential. He helps clients look closely at what is happening beneath the surface, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop realistic ways to move forward.
His approach is especially suited to clients who want therapy to feel active and useful. Sessions may involve working through real-life situations, challenging unhelpful perspectives, or practising difficult conversations, boundaries, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. Ryan draws on his experience and therapeutic training to help clients understand themselves differently and build skills they can use outside of the therapy room.

My Story
Before entering counselling, Ryan spent more than a decade working in civilian roles with the Ontario Provincial Police, including anti-human trafficking, cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, and work involving high-risk offenders. His work involved complex and often difficult investigations, giving him a unique perspective on human behaviour, trauma, and the impact that challenging experiences can have over time.
That work also began to affect Ryan personally. Although initially hesitant to seek therapy, he eventually did and found the experience genuinely helpful. It played an important role in his decision to pursue counselling and gave him firsthand insight into how difficult it can be to acknowledge that something is wrong and ask for support, particularly when you're used to handling things on your own.
